Almost done with the most complex audio I have ever edited. Eleven tracks, and counting.
@larand If you can see all that so clearly, and I don’t disagree, why can’t he? Or they?
@matigo I found it fascinating, not least because it was something I knew absolutely nothing about. I think they should bring back the idea of a graded series of gifts.

@phoneboy I wouldn’t summarise it in the same way as you, which may we’ll be why I don’t see it in those terms.

@phoneboy If it did ever get off the ground, I see it as monetizing the network for the benefit of the people who create the network content, rather than for the benefit of the aggregators.
At the moment, Apple aggregates for "free". Everybody else piggybacks on that and in addition sells your content to advertisers, keeping the vast bulk of what they charge.
How is it hypocritical?
@matigo I think it is misguided on so many levels, not least the one I drew attention to in my snarky way. But I am willing to support anyone who is thinking and even doing something of this nature. I'm very fortunate to have a few very helpful supporters and the privilege to spend some of my time doing what I love. I'm happy to ignore all the walled gardens and, like @hazardwarning, support the networks and individuals I value. But it does sometimes feel as if the big podcasts are sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
Very hard to believe that Tanner Campbell chose to put his very IndieWeb idea about podcasting [medium.com] on Medium rather than on his [own domain]. I guess he knows where the audience is, which makes it even odder.
Of course, the idea will never work because the big players don't need it and the small ones won't hurt anyone by witholding their labour.
