@matigo I actually think a model straight from book publishing, of an advance against royalties, would be perfect for finite audio series, and may well suggest that to Rob when I get a moment later this afternoon.
@matigo his previous shows were so good in different ways, which is why I subscribed. Now I'm eager to join in. If he can raise enough capital to pay a handful of authors to create series people want to hear, I really think it will fly. I want in. And I just wrote to the organisers of a food anthropology conference next May to see whether we could plan to make something interesting together.
@matigo So funny. I was planning to add a "Please, please, pretty please" to the end of my email newsletters, and then have a separate newsletter for supporters, leaving it out. Exactly as you would like. I figured it was just too much hassle for the (so far) small number of supporters, so I left it out altogether.
But a different feed, and a different mix? That might be easier, if only it didn't require supporters to jump through a hoop to get there. I suppose I could upload the non-begging show to Patreon and let people get it from there.

The "station" idea is something interesting, but I don't think I would listen to that, unless it had a quite sophisticated skip button. And I think I would like some context, as I try to provide with POTP (currently resting, if not dead).
BUT … A fascinating idea that I've just heard of on the rebirth of Anxious Machine is Rob McGinley Myers' idea for a really neat idea to support long-form audio. I got the chills listening to it, as it seems both straightforward and hugely inspiring, with the potential to really change the game. I won't give it away here, in case you want to listen yourself, but happy to discuss.

@10centuries Interesting question. I don['t do a lot of automated cross-posting, because I tend to regard each social service as a separate (although often overlapping) circle of people. But I can see that some people might want it. I suspect going the full POSSE indie-web route would be pointless here (though maybe on a per-user basis, as a premium add-on?)
Having delivered a big project to a client yesterday, I know I need to catch up on a lot of little things this morning. But there are so many of them, I can't decide where to start. So I think I'll make a cup of coffee and knead my bread, and see whether that clears my mind.
