I'm not at all surprised. I always prefer to write on paper. It helps me remember and is less distracting for whomever is talking.

I like the way you pick up the gravatar instantly.

That's what I remembered.

I hope has seen the latest xkcd [xkcd.com].

Your ears are just fine, except when they're not.

It's funny, the variability in average loudness of different podcasts. There is a standard (or is it just advisory?) but both listening casually and when editing for Pick of the Podcasts I notice huge differences. Also in how much compression people use.

Yesterday's internet outage (downage?) was really upsetting because it took me so long to stop thinking it was about to pop right back up. There was urgent stuff I needed to do, and that I got done at a cafe. But I should have abandoned trying much sooner and got on with stuff like logging audio that has no need for connectivity. Maybe next time I'll just accept the situation for what it is and move on.

Which I can almost never find on my keyboard.

Couple of hours. But I won't be checking in here again before morning. Just waiting for my friends to arrive.

Gah! Internet has been out since 11 this morning. Just came back up. Meanwhile, I've been wandering around the neighbourhood trying to find a decent wifi cafe, with singularly little success. Even this phone wasn't working too well. And of course, nobody at my ISP could tell me anything.

Ah well, it does make me realise how privileged I am.

And now, I'm off to have dinner with some chums. See you all tomorrow.
