My personal belief, as a non-dev of course, is that a fork of WithKnown could be the basis of a gen 2-3 IaaS.

Some people want to stop having a silo as their main or only online presence, but they don’t want to give up on their “friends” there who are not ready to move. Or, like me, they really want to use those places only as a megaphone, though they will interact if interaction is called for.

There are third-party tools that link in both directions, and those are being maintained by smart people who work hard at them. Those tools might stop working one day, but for now, I’m ok with depending on them.

You don’t have to do all the api wrestling or scraping yourself.

That’s what I keep trying to say. There is no there there. But bits of it work well.

Do they start paying you if they fail to complete on time? Not that it would compensate for the disappointment, but it might help.

The point is that if you have a custom domain that you control, then the url for content can stay the same regardless of host.
