XXX will be rolling out improved security on your account from the 28 September 2016. This will be done using a one-time password function - additional security that is commonly used to combat cyber-attacks - to protect you from the risk of identity theft. XXX will implement this using a one-time 6 digit code that will be sent through SMS to your mobile each time you logon. This will happen after your first successful logon on or after 8am GMT on the 28 September 2016. When you receive your code, make sure that you use it within 5 minutes to continue to access account details as normal.

Sounds to me like a disaster.

Ah, but did I tell you that I know who he is named after.

Most of it is Arq storing things in S3 and Glacier, rather than downloads (alas). I'm not even sure how to count downloads. I get a number from Blubrry, but I have no idea how to interpret that.

//

Suits me. I've been too useless to change mine anyway. ?

I host my podcasts on s3 and I'm aware that a sudden spike in downloads would cost me a lot. It is a problem I wouldn't mind having though. Current costs for hosting and backup about 23 euros a month.

Ah. Yes, that is a different problem. I was thinking of me deciding to publish 16 versions of the same crappy episode.

No idea how you would throttle that sort of misuse, although I see it on some sites where they think I'm asking questions too fast to be a human.

add a little disincentive to doing things for the lulz. Like put a cap on the number of images per day that aren't happy puppies. For example.

Footnote 3 is interesting. I wonder whether that could be the justification for a freemium model.

Has anyone else noticed the neighbourhood going down the tubes?

Here's hoping.
