Just thought I'd check that this thing is still on … And it is! Although I am not sure how I might use it in the future. So many sites, so little time.

In the first case, I would say sure, do what you like.
In the second, I would say no.
@matigo I don’t myself see the value of railing here - unless you think of this as a kind of personal notebook - because few people here care. Whereas many people who build and use the things you are railing about do care and in my experience are unfailingly open, polite and receptive. I know you have had bad experiences with some things in the past. I just wanted to suggest that smart people have already put a lot of thought into something you are thinking about and that there may be things you could use in the things they have built and are using.
Or you can continue to do absolutely everything yourself, on your own.
