Major expedition for today, to Richmond to interview a woman about her life on a working barge, to the Public Record Office in Kew for some historical research and to Kew Gardens to see an old friend and for fun. Pity the weather is no longer totally wonderful.

Ready for another day of tourism although the weather is not as perfect as it has been the past few days. Not sure what’s is on the agenda. Probably National Gallery and maybe British Museum. Oh, and I have a podcast to finish and publish, but that will have to wait until after The Main Squeeze has left.

I didn’t know you were a fan. I did read Infinite Jest once, to impress a woman. It didn’t work, which I’d probably just as well as we remain very good friends. I think I prefer his shorter things, and I wasn’t even tempted to try his final novel.

The Onion’s pastiche of the genre - A Very Fatal Murder - is very funny and spot on.

I don’t make the rules.

The Wallace is great too, but not this time.

It truncates at something less than 280 characters, yes, and links to the full post

we did Sir John Soane’s house in Lincoln’s Inn Fields. Wonderful, astonishingly eclectic, packed collection.
