What's it like to be wealthy? What's it like to be poor? What's it like to be a dog, a frog, or anything else with some semblance of intelligence?

That's what good novels are for.

Without making too much of it, some people reckon that this could be the breakup of the euro.

Or not.

No vote in the Italian referendum could be nothing to worry about or could presage disaster. We shall see.

I wasn't aware of that particular one, no. But just on Friday, at the big food conference I was at, there a presentation by the Italian food bank, which looks to be almost identical. And my comment then was:

But it kind of requires a food industry to provide the "waste" and permits and legitimates it.

In other words, while it is a great thing to make sure that people who need it get access to cheap or free food, it also does nothing to stop industry creating waste and then feeling good because it isn't really wasted.

For fresh food, I think it is a great idea.

TIL that if you forget to put your phone into airplane mode and record an interview using the spiffy microphone that your friend gave you last year, you record all the crap interference of other phones in the vicinity.

Seriously bummed.

Last night we feasted on home made ravioli, using a flour called grano arso that is either smoked or roasted. Very traditional for peasants who gleaned wheat after the stubble had been burned.

@kdfrawg That would certainly explain it. I like shirt pockets, but not all of mine are so blessed.

@kdfrawg thank you. Mine is a 6+ and not all my shirts have pockets. I think I'll stick with my current arrangement. For a while …

@kdfrawg Which pocket do you keep it in, if I may be so bold? I have a very slim wallet in my right back pocket and my phone usually in front left or in a jacket.
